NC Department of Labor Elevator Inspector
Maximum Recruitment: $51,788 annually Appointment Type: Permanent Full-Time Location: Various throughout the state of NC Description of Work: Positions are located in the Standards and Inspections Division of the NC Department of Labor. The Elevator Inspector inspects a variety of passenger-carrying devices to determine safe operating conditions and to detect potential hazards or mechanical failures. Enforces provisions of state and national safety codes for elevators, escalators, personnel hoists, amusement devices and the like. Position has condemnation authority of unsafe passenger-carrying equipment and conducts investigations of accidents where unsafe equipment or operations were involved. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Graduation from high school and five years of experience in the construction, inspection, erection, or servicing of elevators and related equipment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
