This position must be registered as a Certified Elevator Inspector and is responsible for conducting monitoring and oversight inspections to enforce the elevator safety codes for safety, mechanical, electrical, and general maintenance and performs inspections of new building construction, associated facilities and building systems and enforcing compliance with state building and life safety codes. Assists safety program manager with the development and management of a comprehensive bureau safety policy and training program. Provides bureau inspectors with relevant safety training at routine intervals. Recommends suitable personal protective equipment for bureau inspectors’ use. Maintains proficient knowledge of current elevator industry safety practices. Serves the bureau as Emerging Industry Equipment Coordinator. Stays abreast on new and upcoming elevator equipment and inspection methods. Represents the bureau at local and national conferences where new elevator equipment will be presented. Develops and provides relevant training to the bureau inspectors on new equipment and inspection processes. Coordinate with local industry representatives to arrange new equipment demonstrations and inspections as available.
